Both the School and St. Joseph’s Hospital are affiliated with the Uganda Catholic Medical Bureau (UCMB).
About the School
St. Joseph’s Hospital – Kitgum School of Nursing and Midwifery is a Private Not-for-Profit Health Professional Training Institution attached to St. Joseph’s Hospital Kitgum.
The School belongs to the Gulu Catholic Archdiocese, is owned by the Board of Trustees of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Gulu, and is affiliated with the Uganda Catholic Medical Bureau.
Through professional training in nursing and midwifery, the institution seeks to contribute skilled and compassionate health workers to communities in Uganda and beyond.

Our History
The School received a Provisional Practicing License from the Ministry of Education and Sports in August 2015, under License No. ME/VOC/22.
The first intake of students joined the School in November 2015, and the institution was officially inaugurated on 2 February 2016.
Following further inspection and development, the School was granted a permanent license by the Ministry of Education and Sports in August 2019, under Registration No. MoES/BTVET/238.
The permanent licensing supported an increase in the institution’s approved student population from 210 to 350 students across the Nursing and Midwifery certificate programmes.
